Did You Know!?! June is the only month of the year that starts on the same day of the week as May in non-leap years and February in leap years! June in Ontario means the end of the school year, beautiful bouquets, and delicious seasonal fruits and vegetables. It’s the perfect time to soak up the sunshine and enjoy the great outdoors. As we countdown to summer break, let’s make the most of those long, breezy evenings. Whether you’re planning fun outdoor art projects or wrapping up the year’s lessons, enjoy every moment of this vibrant month!
HOORAY for you! We are only weeks away from another year under your belt and summer vacation calling to you! Again, your resiliency was tested at many levels. Challenges are part of every teacher’s life. Getting resilient and taking care of your own needs must come first, before serving others. These next two months are yours for savouring.
I invite all of you to stand up, take your Superhero stance, and take a selfie. Better yet, do so with your class, to celebrate this milestone that indicates WE DID IT TOGETHER! A reason to celebrate. That is a treasure to keep. My sincere wish for you is that you are capable to feature the arts as an important integrated way to do deeper in showing your students why the arts are culturally and socially a very important part of life. Life would be so dull without ‘acknowledging the beauty of the ArtsAround us!” In difficult times, they become a place of refuge. Where we are safe and free to express, imagine and rejuvenate our weary souls!
This summer you need to chill, relax, and practice any wellness activities you know. Be gentle and kind to yourself, and find reasons to celebrate you, your family, and friends. This is when adults need to honour their own social-emotional skills, practice mindfulness, and meditation, and take long walks to enjoy nature such as: wooded trails, beaches, waterways, backyards, mountains, dotted with a quick stop to enjoy a beverage that feeds your soul 😊
THANK YOU to all of you who, delivered ArtsAround lessons as they are intended-to help students realize that through their creative imaginations and critical thinking skills, the arts over centuries, are woven through the very fabric of social justice. You are ALL warriors, and your ArtsAround Team is filled with GRATITUDE for sticking with it, so kids everywhere learn to integrate the arts into their lives, their thoughts and even into their families! You’ve worked hard-enjoy your summer.
Happy Summer to Everyone!

Hopefully, MANY schools made the choice to “Share Dance’ by teaching all grades the choreography from the National Ballet School. If not, and you are still having an end of the year celebration in the school yard, Here are a few other choices to consider. Really try to make sure all areas of the arts are represented during this event. Even artwork can be hung up on the fence in the yard as a pop-up art gallery. IF your school is having ab outdoor celebration event, please drop me a line to inform me when it is taking place. Celebrating together is SO important! There is still time to book an event!

Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches – and now, virtually – to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers.

June is here, and summer’s near,
The end of school is coming clear.
We’ll pack away our books and pens,
And say farewell to all our friends.
The sun is shining bright and high,
The days are long,
the blue sky wide.
We’ll run and play,
and laugh and cheer,
For summer fun is finally here!
From morning till the stars appear,
We’ll treasure every moment dear.
So here’s to sunshine,
warmth,and play,
Happy summer, every day!
