Did You Know!?! No other month in the year begins on the same day of the week as June! The month of June brings beautiful bouquets, delicious fruits and vegetables, and an urge to get out there and enjoy the sunshine. Spend time outdoors, and countdown the days – Summer is really starting to get into full swing! Every day lasts just that little bit longer, making breezy summer evenings a real treat.
HOORAY for you! We are only weeks away from another year under your belt and summer vacation calling to you! Again, your resiliency was tested at many levels. Although COVID seems to have dissipated, we all know it is still prevalent in our lives. The world will never be the same, education will never be the same, your outlook on life will never be the same, BUT hopefully we have the skill set to cope.
I invite all of you to stand up, take your Superhero stance, and take a selfie. Better yet, do so with your class, to celebrate this milestone that indicates WE DID IT TOGETHER! A reason to celebrate. That is a treasure to keep. My sincere wish for you is that you are capable to feature the arts as an important integrated way to do deeper in showing your students why the arts are culturally and socially a very important part of life. Life would be so dull without ‘acknowledging the beauty of the ArtsAround us!” In difficult times, they become a place of refuge. Where we are safe and free to express, imagine and rejuvenate our weary souls!
This summer you need to chill, relax, and practice any wellness activities you know. Be gentle and kind to yourself, and find reasons to celebrate you, your family, and friends. This is when adults need to honour their own social-emotional skills, practice mindfulness, and meditation, and take long walks to enjoy nature such as: wooded trails, beaches, waterways, backyards, mountains, dotted with a quick stop to enjoy a beverage that feeds your soul 😊
THANK YOU to all of you who, delivered ArtsAround lessons as they are intended-to help students realize that through their creative imaginations and critical thinking skills, the arts over centuries, are woven through the very fabric of social justice. You are ALL warriors, and your ArtsAround Team is filled with GRATITUDE for sticking with it, so kids everywhere learn to integrate the arts into their lives, their thoughts and even into their families! You’ve worked hard-enjoy your summer.
Happy Summer to Everyone!

Just a wee reminder that these links are for the choregraphed dances your Movement Coaches should be teaching your students. Make sure you find a way to celebrate the arts together before the kids’ head home for the summer. Great afternoon of fun in the schoolyard!

How old is Canada in 2022?
You might hear people say that Canada is turning 153 years old this year. What this really means is that we’re celebrating the 153rd anniversary of the Constitution Act of 1867, which established Canada as a country.
Who found Canada?
In 1604, the first European settlement north of Florida was established by French explorers Pierre de Monts and Samuel de Champlain, first on St. Croix Island (in present-day Maine), then at Port-Royal, in Acadia (present-day Nova Scotia). In 1608 Champlain built a fortress at what is now Québec City.
Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches – and now, virtually – to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers.

“Far up in the deep blue sky,
Great white clouds are floating by;
All the world is dressed in green;
Many happy birds are seen,
Roses bright and sunshine clear
Show that lovely June is here”
